When our journey began in 2005, we were driven by a bold vision to connect people, businesses, and communities through technology. It is remarkable to see how far we have come and to be able to celebrate 20 years of achievements, innovation and progress.

Reimagine the way we connect

 
It started with a bold idea: to think differently about connection. We built more than a network, we built a global fabric designed to connect anything and everything. As the world faced unprecedented change, we evolved, expanding our ecosystem to enable clouds, data centres and the intelligent edge. 
 

 

2005-2011
 

Laying the foundations of our global network

  • Formation of PCCW Global from three HKT subsidiaries with an international network presence.
  • The focus was on expanding our physical backbone and IP network through investing in critical subsea cable routes, establishing Points of Presence globally, and extending our reach via regional partnerships.
  • We began to upgrade our international network using newer optical technologies such as 100G. 
2012-2015

 

Expanding through investments and acquisitions 

  • The acquisition of Gateway Communications significantly extended our network reach and connectivity services in Africa.
  • The integration of Reach added further network synergy.
  • The acquisition of Crypetia Networks gave us new capabilities in network security and software applications development. 

 

 

2016-2024

 

Leading the way with automation 

  • The acquisition of the Console Connect platform and software team enabled us to fully automate our global network. 
  • We rapidly integrated our platform with a global ecosystem of cloud, SaaS and data centre providers.
  • Launched award-winning automated services, such as CloudRouter®, Internet On-Demand and Edge SIM.
